I use the knowledge and skills from my 20+ years as an instructional designer and in the education industry to transform your corporate learning and development training programs. I have the expert knowledge of cognitive science and adult learning theory to select and apply the appropriate design models – ADDIE, Action Mapping, Bloom’s Taxonomy, and Merrill’s Principles of Instruction. I am a certified Adobe Captivate Professional.
I began my career teaching high school science. I moved into administration and worked as a high school assistant principal. This is when I transitioned from teaching adolescents to teaching adult learners – teachers in their professional development and training.
After several years as an assistant principal, I missed what I loved most about teaching – instructional design. So I began freelancing as an Instructional Designer.
How do I apply adult learning principles to the learning experiences I design?
Connect to the learner’s experience and knowledge
Experience is key – including making mistakes
Respect their time – make it job embedded
Relevance – provide immediate takeaways
Interactions are problem-centered
Allow the learner to identify their learning priorities
